GTX Image CAD Series version 8.0 is built on the AutoCAD 2004 OEM product.
The Image CAD V8.0 installation complies with the system requirements and
operational rules established by Autodesk for it's 2004 series. The information
which follows is intended to describe methods of installation for basic Windows users
who are not members of the local machine's Power User or Administrator groups.
If all users in your enterprise belong to the Power User or Administrator groups
further reading will not be necessary. The following topics are explained in this text:
Microsoft defines the privileges for a 'standard' local machine User in the following statement:
Explanation of Limited User Privleges
The non-Power User is restricted from access to system files, the folder
named Program Files, and it's sub-folders and files. The default installation
path for the Image CAD V8.0 program happens to be under the Program Files
folder, as shown in the following dialog.

To reach this stage of program installation a person with proper authority
is in charge and is entitled to place the program under the default
Program Files path. However, the standard User will have difficulty in
running the Image CAD program after the installation. Image CAD will
start but will quickly fail for the User. The following Command line statement
is an indication of this type of failure:
Prompt file error, gtxrx.arx must be reloaded.
Prompt Table non-existent!Prompt Table non-existent!
Following that, the program will shut down and this next message will appear:

A further side effect of the User's limited privilege would be the display of a
message, similar to the following, if any attempt were made to move, copy,
or delete files from the Image CAD folder, when it is installed under the
Program Files folder.

To Avoid Limited Privlege Problems
When a regular User is expected to operate the Image CAD program, do not install the
program under the Program Files path. Instead, modify the default installation path to
one such as, C:\GTX\Image CAD Series V8. The path name may be set to any local
hard drive partition with a folder name of your choice. A standard user will then have
control of the program's operation and the installed files and sub-folders.
For any user capable of logging in to the local machine, the Image CAD V8.0 program
will register itself for that Current User and modify that User's Documents and Settings
folders upon it's first successful start. During that process a message, similar to
the following, will be displayed. This process will occur for each User who runs the
Image CAD program under their personal login credentials.

Confirmation of a successful start of the program may be achieved by use of the
gInfo command, entered at the Command line on the Image CAD program screen.
The gInfo command will cause a text window to open, and a display like the following
will appear. Notice, in this example, the words 'Demonstration Mode', which will
indicate the program licensing process has not been completed.

Recovery From a Faulty Installation
If an Image CAD installation was completed under an Administrator login and
some problems running the program were evident under a standard User login due to
limited User privleges, as previously noted. Following that, a reinstallation of Image CAD V8
is performed to a non-Program Files folder, as previously recommended. A message
similar to the one below will likely be displayed for the standard User. There is a simple
resolution to this new problem which involves the removal of the GTX Image CAD Series
registry key for the Current User under the standard User login. Well known recommendations
should be followed before editing Windows registry.
The steps to perform this modification on, [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GTX\Image CAD Series]:
1. Log in as the standard User
2. From the desktop Start button select Run and enter
regedit on the run line
3. Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key in the registry
window
4. Expand the Software key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER
5. Expand GTX under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
6. Under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GTX key,
highlight Image CAD Series and delete that key.
7. Exit the Windows registry editor
The next attempt at running Image CAD V8 will initiate a re-registration, replacing the
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GTX\Image CAD Series] registry key, then the
program should operate properly.
