Patch #6: HINSTALL for Windows Server 2003
Windows 2003 servers work well for management of floating GTX software
licenses served by the HASP License Manager. As host of a license manager, and
HASP hardware key, the Windows 2003 operating system must have a HASP device
driver installed. Aladdin Knowledge Systems periodically updates their device
driver installation software to accommodate new Windows operating systems and
Service Packs. GTX recommends the following HASP device driver installation
technique for Windows 2003, or for any situation of device driver installation
difficulty. GTX includes HASP drivers on it's product CD in a HASP\Driver
folder. There, will be found, the Hinstall.exe command line driver installation
program.
Note: For Hinstall.exe files which are older than August, 2005, obtain a
newer version from Aladdin's website at http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/hasp4/enduser.asp.
The downloadable file is named HASP4_driver_cmdline.zip.
<>HASP Device Driver Installation>
As a command line program, Hinstall.exe may be run either, in a
command window, or from Windows Start>Run. If a previous driver installation
had been unsuccessfully attempted, or if the driver is being updated to a newer
version, run Hinstall with a -r (remove) argument. If the path to the Hinstall
file, shown in the Open line of the Run utility, includes double quotes, any
arguments should follow the double quote, such as;
"C:\Program Files\GTX\Raster CAD\License\Hinstall.exe" -r
<>>A completed driver removal will be followed by a confirming message.
<>>
For installation of a driver, using Hinstall.exe, the arguments -i -alldrv
should be applied. That completes the HASP driver installation.
