Scanned Raster Image Formats - GTX Compatible File Formats
GTX raster image editing and enhancement software is compatible with scanned bitonal images. A bitonal image consists only of a foreground color and a background color. This type of image file format results from scanning a document, such as a blue print, a black and white map or a business form. GTX software is compatible with a variety of image file formats. Here is a listing of formats which may be viewed and edited in GTX software:

This list is divided by formats which may be viewed, edited, and resaved (Read and Write) or formats which may only be viewed and edited (Read). The later may be resaved after editing by selecting one of the writeable formats to save the file as. In that case, the file type will be different from the original file but it will appear the same as the original if reopened in a GTX program.
GTX Rastrans Image file conversion program
An image file format conversion program, named RASTRANS.EXE, is installed with each version of GTXRaster CAD Series and GTXImage CAD Series. This program is also available on each GTX product CD. The program's control options are easy to understand. From 1 to 250 Input Files, of a variety of file formats, may be added to the input list for batch conversion. An Output File Format is chosen from a list of 26 file types. Finally, an output directory is chosen as the place to save the image file which has been converted from one format to another format.

Among the Rastrans output formats are 7 plot file formats which will send an input file directly to a printer or plotter which is configured for use on the local machine.

The Scanned Document
Among the considerations in scanning a document which will be edited or converted in GTX software are compatibility of the output file format, and the resulting storage size of the output file. A comparison in sizes may be performed using the Rastrans.exe program. The following is such a comparison, beginning with an Uncompressed TIFF file translations were performed in Rastrans to a variety of Output file formats. This simulates the scanning of a document to various output formats.
