GTXRaster CAD® Series security permissions on Windows7
Issue: User permission problems may exist on Windows 7 PC’s due to the increased security.
Test: In Windows Explorer, if the user can go to the installation directory and create a new text document in the directory, then it is most likely not a permission problem.
There are 2 options to consider if the GTXRaster CAD series products do not run correctly on Windows 7 PC’s.
Option #1: Install outside the Program Files folder
If GTXRaster CAD PLUS is running in Demonstration mode and you have an error where the GTX commands are not known or you have a Prompt Table error on start up, you can install GTXRaster CAD in the root of the C: drive and NOT in the “Program Files” folder.
If your install is in C:\GTX\Raster CAD [PLUS, TOOLS, R2V] 20YY then the logged on user should have full control over the C Drive.
Option #2: Give the user write permission on the GTXRaster CAD installation directory.
Another solution to the problems mentioned above is to give the logged on user “Full Control” over the GTXRaster CAD install directory on the PC, this should be by default C:\Program Files\GTX\Raster CAD [PLUS, TOOLS, R2V] 20YY.
Go to the install directory and select the security tab, make sure the users name is in the list of users, if not add the user and then give the user Full Control.
Reason Why: Windows 7 has extra security on the “Program Files” folder
The GTXRaster CAD® Series software needs to create and edit various files on start-up.
